The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth about ₹770 crore with Bharat Electronics Limited for Improved Low Level Light Weight Radar systems. The order covers radar systems for the Army.

The systems can detect and track fighter-sized targets, mini drones and micro drones. They can also prioritise aerial targets.

The ministry described the procurement as a step for domestic air-defence manufacturing and its supplier base. The contract places the radar order with BEL.
