Domestic tourism could benefit if more Indian families choose local trips over international holidays this year.

Destinations such as Goa, Kerala, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kashmir, the Northeast and heritage cities may see stronger interest if outbound travel slows.

The opportunity is significant, but travellers will expect value, safety, clean facilities and transparent pricing. Domestic tourism will grow sustainably only if the experience matches the promise.

State tourism boards have stepped up campaigns highlighting lesser-known destinations to spread demand beyond the usual hotspots.
