India Mobile Congress Turns Delhi Into A Scale Test For Deep Tech
The 10th India Mobile Congress brings more than 600 startups, 2,000 technology use cases and new domains from industrial robotics to transport technology into focus.

India Mobile Congress has opened this week with a larger question than telecom: whether India can turn deep-tech demonstrations into deployable infrastructure. The 10th edition of IMC is being held from October 7 to 10 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to inaugurate it on October 8.
The official theme is 'Scale Without Boundaries'. The government has framed the event around four pillars: Srishti, or building the future; Samvardhan, or fueling growth; Sashakt, or expanding opportunities; and Suraksha, or strengthening trust. That language places the event beyond a narrow industry exhibition.
The 2026 edition covers 5G and 6G, next-generation AI networks, semiconductors, non-terrestrial networks, cyber security, quantum communication, enterprise transformation, circular economy and ESG, and electronics manufacturing. It also adds smart mobility, stadium experiences, industrial robotics and transport technology as newer domains.
The scale is substantial. Official material says IMC 2026 is expected to attract more than 1.5 lakh attendees from over 100 countries, with more than 500 partners and exhibitors, 600 startups, 900 thought leaders, more than 2,000 technology use cases and over 120 sessions.
For startups, the most useful part may be proximity rather than spectacle. A deep-tech company needs investors, policymakers, standards bodies, customers and infrastructure buyers in the same conversation. IMC's Startup World Cup India 2026, build-a-thon activity and investor meetings suggest a stronger attempt to connect founders with adoption pathways.
The policy test is whether the event creates follow-through. India's digital infrastructure ambitions now depend on hardware supply chains, spectrum planning, cyber resilience, enterprise adoption and patient capital. A hall full of demonstrations is useful only if pilots become procurement, partnerships and manufacturing capacity.
Delhi's IMC week therefore becomes a national scale test. India already has mass digital adoption; the next stage is whether it can build, secure and export the technologies behind that adoption. The answer will come after the booths close, when companies and government agencies decide which use cases are ready to move from display to deployment.
