NEET To Move Toward Computer-Based Exams After Leak Row
India's medical entrance system is set for a major shift after paper leak concerns triggered national anger.
India's NEET-UG medical entrance exam is expected to move toward a computer-based format from next year after a paper leak controversy raised serious concerns about exam security.
For millions of students and families, NEET is one of the most important exams in the country. Any allegation of a leak or unfair advantage can damage public confidence immediately.
"India's story in 2026 is no longer about catching up — it's about defining what comes next."
A computer-based model is expected to reduce risks linked to physical question papers and improve monitoring. The challenge will be implementation, especially across smaller towns and rural centres where digital exam infrastructure may vary.
The Ministry of Education is reportedly consulting with the NTA, state authorities and technology partners on a phased rollout, with pilot centres likely to be tested before a nationwide switch.
