As temperatures rise across India, doctors are urging people to adjust their food and hydration habits to reduce heat-related stress.

Health experts recommend water-rich fruits such as watermelon, muskmelon, papaya, oranges and berries, along with cooling vegetables like cucumber and lauki. Light meals such as curd rice, moong dal khichdi and plain rice with curd can help the body maintain energy without placing extra pressure on digestion.

"India's story in 2026 is no longer about catching up — it's about defining what comes next."

The advice is simple but important. During intense heat, dehydration can set in quickly, especially for children, elderly people and outdoor workers.

Experts also warn against heavy, oily meals and sugary drinks, which can make people feel more sluggish in hot weather.

India's heatwave season is becoming a lifestyle issue as much as a weather issue. Eating lightly, drinking consistently and avoiding peak afternoon exposure can make a real difference.
