IMD Warns Heatwave Will Grip Large Parts Of India
The IMD warned that heatwave conditions would affect large parts of India over the next four to five days.
The India Meteorological Department warned that heatwave conditions would affect large parts of India over the next four to five days.
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and parts of eastern India were among the regions expected to experience intense heat. Odisha, Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal also faced warnings during the period.
"India's story in 2026 is no longer about catching up — it's about defining what comes next."
The alert comes as India moves through one of the most difficult parts of the summer calendar. Outdoor workers, delivery riders, construction labourers, elderly people and children are most vulnerable during sustained heat.
Residents are being urged to stay hydrated, avoid peak afternoon exposure and watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion.
The weather warning also places pressure on local governments to ensure water access, shaded public areas and emergency response support.
India's heatwave alerts are no longer routine seasonal updates. They are public safety warnings.
